Author Spotlight: Ron Pegg
By Ron Pegg

We are pleased to introduce Ron Pegg, the author of Christopher the story of Ottawa Senator Chris Neil’s journey to and career in the NHL. The book is now available for order through your local Christian bookstore. We asked Ron, who is the author of ten books, to share his best writing tips!

I was a teacher for 34 years, coached 213 teams in various sports over a 47-year coaching career and was the winning coach in over 2,400 games and 54 championship or finalist teams. Amongst the players I have coached are Christopher Neil, Jimmy Rutherford (general manager of Pittsburg Penguins), John Gould, and Wayne Carleton. I’ve also belonged to various prayer groups as well as serving as a church elder and Sunday School superintendent for over 35 years. I have been lay supply preacher for 64 years.

I hold a B.A. degree in history and English and an M.A. degree in educational planning. I and my wife of 52 years, Cathy, have three adult children whose families also serve the Lord. My family make our home in Flesherton, Ontario. I am one of three lifetime members of the Ontario Baseball Association.

My newest book, Christopher: The Story of Ottawa Senators Right Winger Chris Neil, is my tenth book. My books include Bognor Bill: A Grey County Maverick a biography about the political career of Bill Murdoch, Giant Among Giants: Ernest C. Manning a biography of Ernest C. Manning a former premier of the province of Alberta, Here’s Mrs. A: Canada’s Woman of the 20th Century the biography of Canadian radio and television broadcaster Kate Aiken, Servant: Of the Shepherd King the story of my family, They Call Him Garney, I Call Him Dad the biography of Garney Pegg, my father and Tribute a compilation of articles that I wrote for the Flesherton Advance.

My three pieces of advice for new authors are:

  1. Develop your own writing style.
  2. Know who you’re writing for.
  3. Get started!
