Advantages of Promo Packs
By Sylvia St.Cyr

When you begin the printing process as a newly published author, the next logical step is to start setting up events if you haven’t already. These author events can include a book launch, book signings, book readings, and/or speaking engagements.

The location of author events can vary greatly; from bookstores, to the author’s backyard, a café, or even a public library. Where there are people, you can almost always create an event to showcase your book!

Throughout the publishing process, our minds are most often only set on the book itself. However, thinking of different ways to promote your message can really help get your book even further.

That is why Word Alive Press offers a promotional package. Plus, for the month of November, if you sign up to publish your book, we’ll include a promotional package (valued at $375 plus tax) for free!

What is a promotional package? They are customized bookmarks, business cards, and postcards that we create and then print 500 copies each for the author and their events.

How can you best utilize these pieces? There are many ways.

For myself, I created my postcards specifically with the book launch in mind. I placed the details of the event on the front and the cover of my book with a description on the back. With these printed postcards, I either mailed or hand delivered these to people I thought would be interested in attending my book launch. I thought that it would be more personal than just sending a mass email invite to people I knew.

As for the business cards, as I am also a speaker, I always have a few handy for people looking for speakers at different events. My business cards include a little bit of information about my book, plus ways to contact me.

The bookmarks are my favourite piece to bring along to any author event where I am selling copies of my book. Everyone who buys a copy will get a bookmark included, which is just a nice and personal touch. However, for people who are unsure if they want to purchase a copy right then, I hand them a bookmark as a physical reminder when they get home later. Plus it takes up space on my table which helps it look less empty with only copies of my book.

Those are simply a few ideas. I have had an author who made her postcards exactly like postcards to send to family and friends across the country, as a way for them to purchase her book.

I have also had an author who made their post card with information and cover image of the next book in their series. Then, the author handed these out at the launch of the first book so that people knew there was more to come.

We can also create the postcards to be inserts in giveaway bags at conferences.

So as you can see, these customizable promotional pieces can be created and used in many different ways, to help you promote your book and brand even further!
